The unapologetic couple

I stopped marketing for Missoula, MT weddings a few years ago. I left my website and let it all sit. I am reemerging, unfolding into the wedding scene. I gingerly step as I second shoot and rebuild a presence. Older and wiser, I see and know more. I want to work for couples that are unapologetically romantic and are wedding for themselves. What does this mean and are you that……

when you are in love you throw yourself into each others arms; there is not much posing a photographer has to do when the romance is vibrant

when your wedding day is about what you want, the love, the love, the commitment

when your story is front and center you can look at images as a story book- one of rich emotion

you trust me to watch you and the loved ones around you because it is about you and your spouse- all your emotions – what moves you is what I will capture

Winter Lovers up on the BLOG! Nord Weddings.

Here I love you.
In the dark pines the wind disentangles itself.
The moon glows like phosphorous on the vagrant waters.
Days, all one kind, go chasing each other.

The snow unfurls in dancing figures.
A silver gull slips down from the west.
Sometimes a sail. High, high stars.
Oh the black cross of a ship.
Alone.

Sometimes I get up early and even my soul is wet.
Far away the sea sounds and resounds.
This is a port.

Here I love you.
Here I love you and the horizon hides you in vain.
I love you still among these cold things.
Sometimes my kisses go on those heavy vessels
that cross the sea towards no arrival.
I see myself forgotten like those old anchors.

The piers sadden when the afternoon moors there.
My life grows tired, hungry to no purpose.
I love what I do not have. You are so far.
My loathing wrestles with the slow twilights.
But night comes and starts to sing to me.

The moon turns its clockwork dream.
The biggest stars look at me with your eyes.
And as I love you, the pines in the wind
want to sing your name with their leaves of wire.

Kiss Me. Nord Weddings. Jenna Nord.

This was one of the easiest couples to photograph as far as engaging love and emotion. I simply directed them where to stand and then said, “Do your thing!”  These to birds were so giddy, sexy, nothing but smooches.72dpi-0717

Tyler & Venelina!

Beautiful backyard wedding. Missoula Montana.

The day was cool and moody, but it sure didn’t take away from Tyler & Venelina’s young ecstatic love for one another.  Enjoy the preview.72dpi-000472dpi-000872dpi-002872dpi-003472dpi-005872dpi-007372dpi-008872dpi-009272dpi-009572dpi-011072dpi-018072dpi-019872dpi-021272dpi-021372dpi-024072dpi-027172dpi-030272dpi-030672dpi-031772dpi-031972dpi-032372dpi-033572dpi-034072dpi-035572dpi-035772dpi-035972dpi-036672dpi-042072dpi-042872dpi-043572dpi-047272dpi-049772dpi-051472dpi-055072dpi-057972dpi-063472dpi-064072dpi-065772dpi-067472dpi-069272dpi-071072dpi-071772dpi-076272dpi-077472dpi-077572dpi-080872dpi-086672dpi-087372dpi-088772dpi-103672dpi-1069

Grooms. Nord Weddings.

So I heard this saying, “Grooms are people too!”

Let’s talk about this for a minute. Well of course they are, well, people; right?  I do not for a minute want to overlook the groom. The wedding and the wedding planning can seem all about the bride, but I know some guys who are very particular about details. Love this. Love these kind of grooms. As a wedding photographer, of course I am working for two people. I want to hear from the groom, I want to know what he wants. These are good questions to be asked, if you are the groom. Book your wedding with a photographer who cares about what you, you the groom, how you think and feel. After all, you are part of the investment, you will be in the majority of the images and you will appear in the album. So caring and being asked what you care about is very important.  firstembrace-0125

Your favorite wedding image. With Nord Weddings. Jenna Nord.

I have had the pleasure of working with Jesse Boone this year. He is my business coach and I have learned so much.  Everyone no matter where they are at in their career should have a coach, there is always more to learn.  My coach, has a coach!

My coach told me a story of a famous wedding photographer that after having photographed a decade of weddings interviewed his clients. He asked them all to send him their favorite image from their wedding day.  The images that came back to him were telling. They weren’t the staged, magazine worthy images.  They weren’t the images where everyone was looking the “right” way and knees were bent, chins lifted, highlights in the eyes. NO. The images were intimate images, images that captured something genuine and intimate to the couple.  An image that spoke to the mood of the wedding, the intensity of love.  Just pause and think about it, what do you envision for your wedding day, and the images you want to get back?

Sealed with Kisses. Helena MT wedding. First Embrace Photography

On a short note. I don’t have many images where these two aren’t kissing. Love is good.

I do not love you as if you were salt-rose, or topaz,
or the arrow of carnations the fire shoots off.
I love you as certain dark things are to be loved,
in secret, between the shadow and the soul.

I love you as the plant that never blooms
but carries in itself the light of hidden flowers;
thanks to your love a certain solid fragrance,
risen from the earth, lives darkly in my body.

I love you without knowing how, or when, or from where.
I love you straightforwardly, without complexities or pride;
so I love you because I know no other way

than this: where I does not exist, nor you,
so close that your hand on my chest is my hand,
so close that your eyes close as I fall asleep.
